Patatas Bravas | Healthy Fakeaway Recipe

One of my favourite tapas dishes is Patatas Bravas. Fried potatoes topped with a spicy tomato sauce and Aioli.

To make this dish Slimming World Friendly, the potatoes are oven baked, or cooked in an airfryer like my Tefal Actifry.

I like my Patatas Bravas to have a good amount of spice, but you can reduce the amount of cayenne pepper if you prefer it milder.

You could also swap mayo for fat free fromage frais or quark to make this syn free!

This dish goes perfectly with most foods, but is also great as a large plate for 4 people to share.

You can provide cocktail sticks so that you can sit and graze with some wine.

You will need-

1/2 Carton Passata
1 tin chopped tomatoes
2 tsp smoked paprika
2 tsp cayenne pepper  (reduce according to how spicy you like it)
Pinch salt and black pepper
1 small onion, finely diced
3 tsp minced garlic
Handful of fresh parsley
Juice half a lemon
2 tbsp extra light mayo (or fat free fromage frais/ quark to make this syn free)

Method-

Preheat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6.

In a large bowl, add the potatoes.  Spray with low calorie cooking spray all over, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Mix the potatoes up so that they are evenly coated with the low calorie cooking spray and seasoning.

Lay the potatoes out on a large baking tray and roast in the oven for 35-40 mins,

Meanwhile, add the passata, chopped tomatoes, smoked paprika, cayenne, onion, half the garlic and lemon juice to a saucepan.  Bring to the boil and then turn down to simmer on a low heat, until sauce has reduced.

To make the mayo, mix the mayo, rest of the garlic, and salt and pepper.

Once the potatoes are roasted, lay them out onto a serving dish.  Top with the sauce and then the mayo, and sprinkle fresh parsley over the top!
