Three Cheese & Bacon Pasta Traybake Recipe slimming low calorie


Inspired by the TikTok feta pasta trend and my Boursin pasta traybake going viral on Facebook, I thought I would try and create another tasty cheese based pasta traybake!

The beauty of these recipes is that you can really play around with the flavours you add, adding more veggies, adding meat, leaving it out, you can really do anything with it!

Funny story about when I was making this recipe, I use a light to light up the food when taking a picture. I filmed this recipe as a video, and right at the very end my light FELL into the food, splatting it everywhere and ruining the melted cheese on top!

The images you see in this recipe were taken straight from the video!

I could have added more cheese and put it back in, but then I would be adding more calories back into it!

Add pasta water


The most important thing I have to stress with this recipe, and any other cheese and pasta based tray bake, is the pasta water. 

This stuff is like liquid gold, and can thicken up any pasta sauce, and help create the smooth creamy sauce in this dish. 

When you've cooked your pasta, drain some of the water off and save it.

You will need:


180g pack of extra light cream cheese 
1/2 ball of light mozzarella 
Bacon medallions chopped into small chunks, fat removed
Pinch of salt and pepper
1 tsp mustard powder
40g extra light cheddar for the sauce, 40g extra light cheddar for the topping 
50ml milk and 25ml water mixed together
1 tsp smoked paprika
150g Dried pasta of your choice


Method:


Preheat the oven to 175 degrees

Add the cream cheese to your baking tray

Then add the mozzarella ball, pulling it apart into smaller chunks

Top with the bacon

Add the mustard powder and smoked paprika

Add the milk and water mix over the top

Top with a generous pinch of salt and pepper

Add to the oven for 10 mins then remove

Meanwhile, parboil your pasta for approx. 5 mins,  making sure you keep the pasta water rather than draining it away. You want the pasta to be slightly softened, but not ready to serve.

Remove the tray from the oven, then add 2 tbsp of the pasta water, and mix everything together

Add the pasta and mix well

Add 40g of cheddar to the sauce and mix again

Then top with the other 40g of cheddar and place back in the oven for 20 minutes
