TGI's Sesame Chicken Strips Recipe: Fakeaway Recipe Sticky strips of chicken with a BBQ glaze topped with sesame seeds, my take on the famous TGIs dish made slimming friendly!

A few years ago when I first visited TGIs, these were my absolute favourite dish on the menu. I have wanted to try and recreate them for a while, and after lot's of testing, I finally think I have this nailed!

They are tasty little strips, and I absolutely love them! There isn't a TGIs near me sadly, so I had to resort to creating my own! I can also save on some calories this way too.

They are really easy to make, and with my recipe, you don't need to fry them.

I cooked them in the oven on a baking tray with some low-calorie cooking spray.

You will need:

2 large skinless chicken breast fillets
2 slices of wholemeal bread, blitzed in a blender to make breadcrumbs
1 tsp paprika
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 large eggs, beaten
2 tsp sesame seeds
 Pinch salt

For the glaze:

2 large cloves garlic, finely diced
1 onion, finely diced
3 tbsp sweetener
2 tbsp pineapple juice
½ cups Teriyaki Sauce
2 tbsp Soy Sauce
6 tbsp Lemon Juice
5 tsp Cider Vinegar
1 teaspoon Red Wine Vinegar
2 tbsp Jack Daniel's Whiskey
¼ tsp Cayenne Pepper

Method:

First, make the glaze.

In a pan, add some low-calorie cooking spray and add in the diced onion and garlic. Stir to combine and cook for 2 mins.

Mix the pineapple juice, Teriyaki Sauce, Soy Sauce Lemon Juice, Cider Vinegar, Red Wine Vinegar, whiskey and Cayenne pepper. Pour over the onion and garlic mixture, then bring to the boil, stir it occasionally, then reduce the heat. Add in the sweetener.

Simmer until thickened and reduced by half.

Meanwhile, prepare the chicken. Slice the breasts into strips, then crack the eggs in a bowl.

Mix breadcrumbs, paprika, salt, garlic powder together with half of the sesame seeds.

Dip the chicken in the egg mix, then into the breadcrumb mix until coated.

Lay the strips out onto a lined baking sheet, then spray with low-calorie cooking spray.

Cook in the oven for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.

When the chicken is ready, coat it fully in the glaze. Mix well, then sprinkle with the rest of the sesame seeds and serve with some salad.
