Devon's Best Dinner Dates: Meat 59 Review

*This meal was complementary of Meat 59, yet all thoughts and opinions are honest and my own*

A while back I set myself a mission to find some of Exeter's Best Breakfasts. One of the contenders for this was Meat 59, one of Exeter's popular burger restaurants. We had a delicious breakfast there, and couldn't wait to try out their evening menu.

Meat 59 has restaurants in Exeter, Newton Abbott and Torquay, and is one of the few true independent eateries left in Exeter. They pride themselves on sourcing as much local produce as possible from within the Devon and surrounding areas, and hand mix and press all their patties.

Located on Magdallen road in Exeter, it is a tardis inside! There is a lovely conservatory area to sit in, and plenty of seating. There is a really nice vibe inside, with some great tunes playing in the background to set the tone.

The menu has a large selection of burgers and toppings, from chicken to beef. Each month they also have a special, bespoke burger with different fillings and toppings.

Whether you are looking for a traditional burger or something a little more adventurous, there is plenty to choose from.

I went for a 'Fricken Chicken' which is Panko breadcrumbed Grana Padano chicken breast, wild rocket, garlic mayo. My boyfriend chose Alabama Slammer - Southern spiced crispy chicken, M59 special mayo, gem lettuce, red jalapeños, Mexican style chilli cheddar and homemade barbecue sauce.

Both chicken patties were cooked perfectly, were crispy on the outside and succulent in the middle. There was plenty of sauce/mayo, and the portions were huge! The rolls were deliciously light and fluffy, and held each handful together.

We decided to share a side dish, thanks to the great portion sizes, and couldn't resist the sound of the 'filthy fries'- slow roast BBQ Devon pulled pork & cheese! Chunky, crispy fries that literally were loaded over the top. It was the ultimate BBQ, cheesy stack!

They really were as delicious as they look in the picture!

I had a refreshing juice to go with my meal, while my boyfriend had this incredible milkshake! It was super thick, creamy, and full of vanilla flavour. I love these American style metal cups.

Meat 59 is an excellent evening out, and a great place to have a dinner date. There is a great atmosphere, a high standard of food and drink, great service, and most importantly of all, a great, local independent that we should all support.
