Slimming World Recipe: Syn Free BBQ Beef Calzone

Yesterday I couldn't help but cook my BBQ Chicken Stack...again!  I had some left over BBQ sauce and decided to put it to good use in this calzone recipe.  A calzone is an Italian filled oven bread that looks like a folded pizza.

By using both your Healthy Extras means that this dish is syn free and delicious. (Add 6 Syns for the bread and 6 Syns for the cheese if not using your HE on extra easy plan) As always with recipes like this, you can adapt it and add whatever fillings you like. This recipe makes 2 Calzones.

Extra Easy Syn Value:- Syn Free

Healthy Extras:-  A & B

You will need-
80g extra light cheddar cheese
1 Beef Steak, sliced
75g wholemeal bread mix
60-70ml for water
1 small red pepper, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1 handful of chopped mushrooms
(If making your BBQ sauce)
5 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp mustard powder
500g passata
3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
3 tbsp sweetener
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp smoked paprika

Method-

Preheat oven to 200 degrees/Gas Mark 6. Take 75g wholemeal bread mix, save approximately 5g for dusting and add 60ml of water and mix to form a dough.

Knead the dough (according to pack instructions)  Split the dough in half to make approx 60g wholemeal pizza base per person. Make each half into a thin round base.

If making your BBQ sauce, mix the passata, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, smoked paprika, sweetener and seasoning. Mix well.

Fry off the beef, onions, mushrooms and peppers over a medium heat until almost cooked.  Add the BBQ sauce and mix well and allow to cool.

Spoon the BBQ beef mixture onto one half of the pizza dough and top with 40g extra light cheese per pizza.

To make your calzone, carefully lift the far edge of the pizza dough and pull it over the top towards you (basically folding it in half).  Pinch the edge together to make sure no mixture can come out.

Cook for 10 to 15 until the dough cooked through.

Notes-

Syn calculations are all carried out as a paying Slimming World member. I am not a consultant!  It is always recommended to check syn values yourself.
