Double Texas BBQ Burger | Slimming World

On a weekend I love to feel as though I am treating myself.  Previously this would mean a takeaway, but now I enjoy the challenge of making something delicious, indulgent and also healthy.

Double Texas BBQ Burger slimming world recipe

This burger is like something straight from America's diners, with a signature BBQ flavour with cheese and bacon. I served it with spicy potato wedges, salad and my syn free coleslaw

You will need:-

For the burger

1 small onion, finely chopped
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 garlic cloves, crushed
500g extra lean beef mince
1 tbsp fat free fromage fraiss

For the sauce

5 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp mustard powder
500g passata
3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 cloves of garlic, crushed
3 tbsp sweetener
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp smoked paprika

To serve
80g Low fat cheddar cheese
2 60g wholemeal rolls
syn free coleslaw
Bacon medallions, all fat removed

Method:-

In a pan mix passata, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, smoked paprika, sweetener and seasoning. Bring to the boil and leave to simmer for around 10 mins on a low heat

Meanwhile place the mince, onion, fat free fromage frais, Worcestershire sauce, garlic and parsley in a food processor, season well and blend until just combined. Transfer to a bowl and combine the mixture using your hands. Divide into 4 portions and shape each into a thin, flat burger.

In a frying pan fry the bacon off until crispy, then set aside.

Place the 4 pattis in the frying pan and cook on a medium heat for about 5 mins each side

Flip the burgers over and add 20g of grated cheese on each burger, then the bacon.  Use a heatproof bowl to put over the top off all the burgers in the pan, this helps the cheese melt

Put a layer of syn free coleslaw on the bottom of your bun, then stack 2 burgers and top with your BBQ sauce.

Serve with spicy wedges and speed foods!

Notes-

Syn calculations are all carried out as a paying Slimming World member. I am not a consultant!  It is always recommended to check syn values yourself.
