KFC Gravy Burger Fakeaway Recipe | Slimming Friendly
My Slimming World friendly KFC Gravy Burger Fakeaway Recipe!
Have you seen the KFC Gravy Burger Advert yet? It is the 2020 offering from
KFC. A KFC fillet burger, teamed with creamy gravy mayonnaise, cheese
& topped with a cupped hash brown made to be filled with lashings of
gravy.
The real thing can set you back lots of syns and calories, but my fakeaway
version can save you both calories and syns!
As the
Queen of the Fakeaway, I thought I better give this one a go! I have loads of other KFC Fakeaway Recipes too if you fancy something else.
I was surprised how well this turned out, it was absolutely delicious!
The key to this burger, is making sure the hash browns have a 'well' in them
to hold all the gravy, and of course, some deliciously rich, thick gravy.
I put a lot of my favourite KFC recipes together for this one.
As for the gravy mayo, I wasn't too sure about that one! I mixed some of the
gravy together with mayo, and it was surprisingly tasty!
Can I reduce the syns or calories?
I used a proper white bun for my burger which was 7 syns, but if you are
following Slimming World you could use a
Schar Gluten Free Ciabatta Roll
which can be used as a healthy extra.
You could also leave out the bun, swap for a wholemeal bun or gluten free bun.
This tasted like a real treat, even though it was far fewer calories, syns and
fat than the real thing.
The beauty of this is that you can add as much or as little gravy as you like!

You will need:
For the chicken:
2 Small Skinless Chicken Breast Fillets
2 slices of 400g wholemeal bread
1 teaspoon oregano
1.5 teaspoon chilli powder (adjust to your spice taste)
1 teaspoon ground sage
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 egg
Hash Browns:
2 medium potatoes, peeled and grated
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Low calorie cooking spray
Gravy:
1 large onion, finely diced
1/ clove garlic
Pinch of salt & pepper
1 pint chicken stock.
2 tbsp Red Wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp low fat cream cheese
To Serve:
Bun of your choice (Gluten free ciabatta if using as your HEb)
1 tsp mayo mixed with 1 tsp gravy
Method:
Preheat oven to 180 degrees/ 170 fan oven.
Start off by preparing the gravy, as this needs to reduce for an hour,
Add the onion, garlic, salt, pepper, chicken stock, vinegar, and
Worcestershire sauce to a pan.
Leave to simmer for 1 hour, the longer the better!
When ready to serve, you can add the gravy to a blender and blitz until
smooth.
Next prepare the hash browns.
Using a clean tea towel, add the shredded potato in the middle of it.
Squeeze all the liquid out of the potatoes using the tea towel. This is what
gives them the crispiness.
Remove from the tea towel, place in a bowl and add all the rest of the
ingredients. Mix well.
I moulded them into the correct shape, then pressed down the centres to make
the well. Set aside.
Blitz the bread until fine breadcrumbs in a blender. Put into a bowl
and add all of the seasonings and mix until everything is blended together
to create your coating.
Crack the egg and mix together. The chicken needs to be dipped in the egg
and then to the breadcrumb mixture and repeated to get an even coating. Use
one hand for touching the eggy chicken, and the other hand for touching it
when breadcrumbed. This stops your fingers getting breadcrumbed too!
Place the chicken and hashbrowns on a baking tray and spray with low calorie
cooking spray.
Add the chicken and hashbrowns in the oven for 25 minutes, or until golden
and crispy and the chicken is cooked through.
Add the gravy mayo to the bottom of the bun, then the chicken, then the
cheese, then the hashbrown, then add your gravy on top!
