An Evening of Beer & Bratwurst Tasting at Bierkeller Exeter

We were invited to Bierkeller in Exeter for an evening of beer and bratwurst tasting! The bar on Exeter Quay, which offers a choice of 29 German beers, is a après ski-style, alpine bar, with wood-heavy interior.

The inside seems super traditional, with long benches and a truly European. It really reminded me of the bars in the German Christmas markets.  Beer is served by the Stein (that's a whole litre!) and I had to try one for myself! There is a large selection to choose from to suit all tastes and flavours.

Next we were treated by Krombacher brewery, and invited to taste some of their finest beers, from non alcoholic to a rich and cloudy beer. Situated in beautiful natural surroundings, the pure Felsquellwasser® (mountain spring water) provides the essence of purity that is captured in the unmistakable taste. The taste of their beer is quite decisively characterised by the water it is brewed with.

Next, it was time for a giant sausage!! A Traditional bratwurst served with Sauerkraut and ketchup in a brioche bun. The sausage was super tasty, although I was not a fan of the ketchup (which the barman insisted on putting on for me...against my will)

BierKeller will host a range of entertainment, with events scheduled for each night of the week, including a traditional resident Oompah band, comedy nights, international music nights and a weekly quiz. Big name acts will also feature every month, available to book through the BierKeller website. Frank Bruno even attended the night before we went!
