Heck !

Being on SW restricts a lot of fatty meats and I used to really miss sausages.  That was until I discovered the Heck chicken Italia variety. They are only half a syn each, taste amazing and are really versatile. I always make sure I am stocked up whenever I go out shopping.  I wasn't actually aware of what a wide product range Heck had on offer, and they recently send me a hamper to test out for myself.

97% Sausages

Made with 97% pork meat from the best quality shoulder, these sausages are dairy free and gluten free too. They went perfectly with a lipsmackingly lean breakfast!  They are 3 syns each.

Zesty Chicken Chipolatas

Bursting with peppery watercress and lemon freshness, these zesty chicken sausages go amazingly well in this Mediterranean veg bake with cheese crumb

You will need-

10 HECK Chicken Italia Sausages
1 red pepper, sliced
1 yellow pepper, sliced
1 orange pepper, sliced
1 courgette sliced
1 red onion, sliced
Sea salt & Black pepper
550g/ml passata
2 garlic cloves peeled and crushed
1 handful chopped basil
Sea salt & black pepper
1 tsp smoked paprika
60g wholemeal roll per person (HEb)
30g parmisan per person (HEa)

Method-

Pre-heat the oven to 180°c / 160°c fan / gas mark 5.

In a large roasting tray place all veg.  Spray with low calorie cooking spray, salt & pepper. Cook in the oven for 15-20 mins.

At the same time cook the sausages in the oven for 12-14 mins.

Whilst they cook, add garlic into a small saucepan, spray with low calorie cooking spray and fry on a medium heat for two mins. Add the passata and simmer for a further 10 – 15 mins.  Season to taste and stir in the chopped basil.

For the crumb topping mix together all of the ingredients.

Once everything is cooked, take a deep baking dish and put the sausages, veg and tomato sauce and top with the crumb

Put the whole dish back into the oven for 20-25 mins and enjoy with a crisp green salad. Enjoy!

Skinless 97% Sausages

Nick mistook these skinless 97% pork sausages to be kebabs, so I decided to serve them as kebabs! They were delicious in a wholemeal pitta with salad and extra light mayo

Chicken Italia Burgers

Juicy British chicken burgers with basil, tomatoes & mozzarella. I kept it simple and served with a wholemeal bun and chips. I really love the sausages so it is great to have that same delicious flavour in burger form!  They are also only 1/2 a syn each.
