I was immediately impressed with how good the place looks inside, having previously only seen the design images. Swish and modern with a shabby chic twist and the massive pizza oven takes centre stage behind the bar.
We were given a base and variety of toppings, and told to let our creativity run wild!
I was so impressed with my first attempt, even the pizza chefs comments on how good it looked!
Once cooked I had to take it to judges to provide their scoring...I got 12 out of 15 BUT one of the judges said there was too much cheese?! Is there such a thing as too much cheese in life? Anyway, I ended up winning my round and got through to the final!
Even Nick had a go!
In the final round I got beaten by Jim, the chef from Exeter Cookery School who I met a few weeks ago, and you may recognise from this post. It was a great night and I can't wait to go back to try the menu, cooked by the professionals! I also loved their own Base + Barley draft cider and ale, and I even tried a cheeky cocktail!
Stay tuned for news on official opning dates and my review once it has opened!
