Review: Veg In A Box Mixed Grill Box

It seems as though Veg In A Box have come a long way since I had my first box from them.  They started off as a Facebook group and have recently launched their new website which allows you to order and pay online.  They partnered with some other local suppliers to introduce meat and roast boxes and offer fresh local Devon produce to Exeter, Exmouth, Crediton and surrounding areas.

I have reviewed their fruit and veg boxes, breakfast box and roast dinner box and was keen to try out their new mixed grill box. In the £30 is:-

4 x 10oz Local Rump Steaks
8 x local sausages from Copper Hill farm meats
4 large ‪local Devon Beef tomatoes
4 large‬ mushrooms
4 oz gammon steaks
Bag of local Devon potatoes for real chips
Pack of x 8 slices of local Devon bacon
Some huge onions to make wonderful onions rings
6 local Devon free range eggs from Blackdog Farm Crediton

As much as I wanted to cook a massive mixed grill, I don't think that I would be able to physically fit it all in!  So I chose to make a few meals out of it, starting with a delicious steak dinner with chips, onion rings, mushroom and peas.  The steaks were of amazing quality and I thoroughly enjoyed them!

Another classic British meal with Gammon & chips.  Another lovely joint of meat and with a delicious egg and chips made from fresh potatoes.

The only thing worth doing with a good quality sausage is a tasty toad in the hole.  The sausages are so flavoursome and possibly one of the best sausages I have eaten!

Of course there was a classic bacon sandwich too!

I used the leftover steaks to create this BBQ beef calzone- truly delicious!
The eggs and mushrooms baked together in the oven makes a perfect side dish or tasty lunch.

So many meals in one box is amazing value for money!  Such good quality, fresh and local ingredients is a real winner from me! They have also created a special meat selection for Christmas, take a look and place any orders on their website.
