They have their own smoker and even make 4 different types of BBQ sauce! Their website say- "Using a variety of wood we create unique smoked flavours to complement each dish. Our passionate smoke shack chef creates tasty dry rubs to season the meat that is cooked low and slow to perfection. Our American smoker ensures excellent taste and authenticity."
I went for the Pastrami Sarnie- Oak smoked pastrami, Swiss cheese, gherkins, sauerkraut, mustard and Russian dressing served on a sour dough bun. Although not your typical burger, this is honestly the nicest dish I have eaten in one of Exeter's burger bars. The pastrami has such a rich and smoky flavour and the flavours go sooo well together. The light and fluffy sour dough bun really makes a perfect dish. The only bad thing about this dish is that there isn't one in my hand right now.
Nick chose Smoky Mountain- 6oz prime Devon beef pattie, salad, smoked bacon, BBQ mayo, BBQ sauce and Smoked cheese. He said it was incredibly succulent and flavoursome and the bacon in the burger was really smoky. Nick is often quite picky about the bun his burger us served in, but he really liked it as it was light and not too heavy.
I couldn't go to Urban Burger without trying their pulled pork, so I had some cheesy pulled pork chips! Having had pulled pork in so many places I can honestly say this is one of the best. The rich smoky flavour sets it apart from all else.
